Enough of Philadelphia

I'm sure by now we're all just getting sick of listening to these ridiculous Philadelphia fans tell us how bad our city sucks and how Philadelphia is obviously where Christ will rise again. Now we all know that neither group of fans are going to concede to the other city as being better and the argument, "Our city is so much better!" doesn't really solve anything. So, like in all things, the only way to prove who's better is to look at the stats. Philadelphia has four professional sports team - Phillies, Flyers, 76ers, and Eagles. These four teams, combined, have won nine championships for the city. The Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers all have won two. The Eagles have won three. However, the Eagles three "championships" were prior to the Super Bowl being implemented (they won their titles in 1948, 1949 and 1960). But, for the sake of the arugment, we'll keep those three championships in the count so Philly fans don't bitch. Now, on to Pittsburgh. Our fair city boasts only three professional teams - Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. Despite being at an obvious disadvantage having one less team, Pittsburgh was still able to win 13 championships. Steelers have won six, Penguins have won two, and the Pirates have won five. The "Modern" World Series is said to have begun starting in 1903. The Pirates five titles, 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, and 1979, all fall into this "Modern" era, just clearing that up incase any Philly fans say that the Pirates titles are tarnsihed like the Eagles.

So, with all the evidence on the table I think it's safe to say that Pittsburgh is not just the better city but a more successful one. Pittsburgh leads the championship count 13-9 and the Pens are looking to add to that this season after we move on after we finish off the Flyers tonight in the Igloo.

Unfortunately, Philadelphia fans, you will not be allowed to count any of Rocky Balboa's boxing titles as he is a fictional character, regardless if you schmucks decided to erect a statue of him in your city.

  1. adding to this ... Philly has more fairweather fans than any other city known to man. Look how beloved Mcnabb was in his younger days with the eagles, and not so long ago they were throwing him under a bus...Along with Head Coach Andy Reid has some off field troubles with his family and people decided to call for his head...He is the most successful coach in the history of sports in the city...so people need to give a little more loyalty
